Just because
A guy was trying to make an important life decision, having grown up going to SS he thought the right thing to do would be to pray about it. Naturally (since He rarely does) God didn't send him a audible or visual sign. After hours of searching he found his old dusty Bible, decided to open it at random and see what God might have to say. He closed his eyes, popped open the Bible and jabbed his finger on a verse. "Judas went and hanged himself" Oops, the guy thought I best try again. "Go thou and do likewise". The guy was getting a bit nervous by now, but thought he'd give it one more try...."Whatsoever thou doest, doeth it quickly".
The moral is that while God's will may not always be clear to us, Random Chance could be hazardous to your health

Good Soccer Day
So both Gabe and Noah scored the winning goals for their respective teams today!

Gabe's team (coached by his dad, my son) won their first game.

My wife and her knees...
So yesterday at soccer Izzy is standing right next to grandma, who turns and falls over her (something about little kids being underfoot, literally);
landing on her "good knee" and bad wrist.

The good news, nothing is broken, the bad news is she can't walk; the doctor says that there doesn't seem to be any torn ligaments, so who know how long
it will take to get better. Of course on Monday a real radiologist will check the x-rays and we will know for sure.

I certainly hope, this isn't something we have to look forward to every 2 years!

Against the odds!!!!!!!
After being told, just two days ago red tape was holding things up....the adoption papers came thru today after all!!!!!

ADOPTION DAY will be November 13th after all. So after nearly 16 years (and 8 other grand-kids) I finally (officially) have another grand-daughter who thinks
"pa pa" is the greatest thing since sliced bread. (in other words a grandchild who realizes she can get whatever she wants by asking me ;D)

Soccer, futbol, whatever...
So, this was the 6th week of the season and the first time "the kids" have played in less than 90 degree weather.

Gabe has improved exponentially from last year (in no small part (I think) because his dad is coaching this year)
Elayna, when she forgets how lady like she is, plays excellently.
Noah, sometimes shows that he really should be playing in the age division below, but in the long run, benefits.

Today was horrible, fun, and exciting... Gabe's team lost 2 games. Noah and Elayna's team was down 3-0 after 5 minutes,
Noah scored the winning goal in the last two minutes and they won 4-3.

Soccer started!!!
Well< at least for 3 of the grand kids.
Elayna and Noah are back on the same team this year; and while Elayna
didn't manage to score from any of Noah's great crosses (she played defense
for most of the game) Noah ended up with two assists as they won 2-1.

Actually the game was pretty lopsided. The goalie only touched the ball twice, and only had to make one save. The other team's goal came off an accidental hand ball in the box.

Gabe's game...well best described behind a cut...

Well, that was different!
It rained, no really!!

Fortunately, I had condensed and moved over 20 cardboard boxes of books, toys and misc collectibles back into the shed first thing this morning.
Unfortunately it was because I needed the tarp since tomorrow is free dump day and I was going to fill my truck with ivy (that I've been putting off cutting back, waiting for free dump day).
So while nothing important got wet or ruined, I didn't get any ivy cut...oh well, I hate to go to the dump anyway.
The other negative is; I have only been watering with "grey water" and not believing there would be any real rain, I deep watered my veggie garden this morning.*sigh*

Football/soccer/futbol/footie
Whatever...

At least females have earned the right to call it soccer for the next four years!!!*

*Hey, my grand-daughter's CIFSS championship shirt says soccer, so for the next four years I
refuse to to be "correct" and will only say soccer :P

Fireworks
The two little ones (Silas 11 mos Elly 14 mos) did really well last night.
Of course, except for the year it was cancelled after the first volley, it was
"pretty lame" (all grand kids over 5 agreeing).

OTH the food was great, the weather pleasant, and the Galaxy won.

That's about right...
In the past 2 months, we have had the best weather for roofing; day in and day out, that I can remember, and have had exactly one job we were on more than one day...actually we have probably averaged about a day and a half of work a week in all that time...So last week 90+ degree temps are predicted starting this week, and 4 people decided they are ready to get their roofs done...*SIGH*

Softball
Last game of what could be my last season (altho as long as I am needed, I shall answer the call)

Actually I pitched one heck of a game but I'd hate going out with only going 1-4.
It was actually a pretty fun season, since for the most part the league has reached parity...
which makes it a lot more fun; that and work being slow enough that I haven't had to be up early on Tuesdays.

Of course work being this slow is not a good thing, but it may be picking up. What will be hard is getting up at 5:00 most mornings again. I've gotten used to watching dumb TV until late.

Misc.
I don't believe I mentioned that when we got home from our June Lake trip, the water heater was leaking. Fortunately it's in the garage and didn't hurt anything. We finally got the new one installed today.

Blackberries are early this year, by Tuesday be picking enough for a big batch of blackberry jelly this year...yum!!!!

Softball
So, in the first half we lost three games in the last inning, in the second half we've won two and tied one, in the last inning. Even tho we have been very competitive this year, I really think I'm ready to wind down my "career". (I especially feel that way after a 9:00 game. On the plus side, I did get to sleep in this morning :D

Boating
I'm guessing we won't be going out on the lake today; it snowed last night. I guess it's supposed to snow off and on for the next couple of days. Just enough to be a nuisance, but
not really enough for recreational purposes.
Historical reference: the last time I got snowed on was back in '94, in of all places, Jerusalem.

Shopping...the way it sould be
I actually went shopping today:
First store: Shoes, 5 minutes...went into store, told the guy what I wanted, tried on the problem left foot; put the shoes on while he rung up the sale, paid, walked out.
Second store: Belt, 10 minutes, 2 minutes to find the right size and color, 8 minutes waiting in line to pay.
Did and done!
